A Red Bluff woman managed to escape a house fire Wednesday night with only minor injuries, but her dog was killed in the blaze.

Cal Fire officials suspect the fire started in a back bedroom of the Deborah Drive home around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. When crews arrived on the scene the home was fully engulfed, and it took them more than hour to knock down the flames.

The woman was able to escape the home with only some minor injuries and refused medical care. No other people were in the home or injured in the fire, but officials say the woman's dog was killed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the Red Cross has been called to assist the woman.
