The Redding Police Department has confirmed the Redding woman who was struck by a train Tuesday morning has died.

The woman was struck around 10 a.m. near Breslauer Way off of South Market Street. Initial reports say the train conductor called the incident in after the woman was hit.

The woman was found unresponsive and transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The train conductor told investigators the crew noticed the woman on the west side of the tracks and say she stepped in front of the train.
