Virginia Anderson, the woman charged with DUI for her role in a September crash that killed a 27 Redding woman has been released on bail, Shasta County officials said Wednesday.
Last week a second-degree murder charge against Anderson was dropped, resulting in the reduction of her bail from $1 million to $100,000, she posted bail Tuesday officials said.
Anderson is charged with DUI causing bodily injury. Prosecutors say Anderson was driving under the influence of methamphetamine when she ran a red light at the intersection of Placer Street and Buena Ventura Road in Redding on April 24. As Anderson went through the intersection she collided with a motorcycle driven by 27-year-old Haley Riggins. Riggins, the mother of a 10-month-old girl, was left in a coma and died on April 30.
