Authorities have arrested a person they say started the River Fire in Redding last Thursday.

Rebecca Goodwin, 32, was arrested on suspicion of arson Saturday night after she reportedly told Redding police and fire officials she started the fire.

According to the Redding Fire Department, Goodwin told authorities she caused the fire by using a lighter in a dry field.

The fast moving fire broke out Thursday night on the south side of the Sacramento River, just west of the Market Street Bridge. The fire burned three acres of heave brush and damaged a railroad trestle that has since been repaired.

Goodwin has been booked into the Shasta County Jail where she is being held on $100,000 bail.
