Woman arrested for assaulting Walmart employees in Anderson

An Anderson woman was has been arrested for suspected shoplifting and assault after she struck Walmart employees with a belt.

Anderson Police were called to the Anderson Walmart yesterday, April 14 at approximately 2:07 p.m. after receiving calls regarding a shoplifting in progress.

When Police arrived they were directed by store employees to a field north of the business where the suspect was pushing a shopping cart full of stolen items towards an apartment complex.

Police detained 34-year-old Sandra Lee Pickett and returned the stolen items, which totaled several hundred dollars to Walmart.

During their investigation police learned that Pickett had used a leather belt to repeatedly strike Walmart employees as they attempted to keep her from leaving with the stolen items.

Pickett was booked into Shasta County Jail for felony robbery, and for threatening a police officer. Additional charges will be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office.
