A woman was arrested after attempting to set a Butte County Sheriff’s deputy on fire, using a lighter and disinfectant spray.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office received a call requesting a welfare check on a family member who had locked herself in a bathroom for four to five hours. The family members said they believed the woman in the bathroom was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Deputies forced their way into the bathroom and found 33-year-old Nai Saecho, of Oroville lying in an empty bathtub. Saechao was holding a lighter in one hand and an aerosol canister in the other hand. As a deputy approached her, she moved the lighter up to the nozzle of the aerosol can. The deputy was able to cover the lighter with his hand to keep a flame from being ignited, but was sprayed in the face.

Saechao was taken into custody for a felony warrant and charges of assault on an officer. She was booked into Butte County Jail and is not eligible for bail due to her warrant.
