The "Wings of Eagles" Joseph Alvarez Foundation for Seriously Ill Children is hosting a benefit Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 5th, at the Skyway Golf Course in Chico.
"Wings of Eagles" was founded by Georgia Alvarez in 1993 after her son Joseph died of a rare and terminal form of Leukemia. She and her husband were grateful for the kindness and compassion they received from the community, and wanted to give back in their son's memory. The foundation provides financial assistance to families of seriously ill children to help with things like transportation and lodging when they have to take their children to out of area treatment centers. It has helped 100's of families over the course of the past 23 years.
The "Wings of Eagles" Golf Tournament takes place from 1-4 p.m. on May 5th. It will include one Longest Drive, 12 Holes of Golf, Raffle Prizes, Food and Drinks. The cost is $45 per player.
