Strong winds, cooler temperatures, and the potential for showers, and thunderstorms are ahead for your Thursday. Gusts have been up to 35mph out of the North in the valley, and could continue to be that strong through the region into this afternoon. The brunt of the active weather has been in the mountains so far overnight, with rain and snow showers from Plumas County to the South. Thunderstorms have been developing to the East of Sacramento early this morning.
Temperatures have dropped into the mid to high 50's in the valley, and into the mid to high 30's in the mountains overnight. Afternoon high temperatures are expected to climb into the mid 70's to low 80's, while mountain areas will be in the high 50's to mid 70's. Sustained winds in the valley will be up to 25mph, with gusts up to 35mph out of the North. Mountain areas could have gusts upwards of 30mph out of the North.
Winds will be up to 20mph on Friday, but will diminish towards the afternoon. The potential for showers, and thunderstorms will be limited to the mountains on Friday evening. Mild, and warmer conditions will return for the weekend. Valley locations will climb back into the 80's for Saturday, and Sunday, with mostly sunny skies. The potential for mountain thunderstorms will return next week, as cooler temperatures return to the region. I hope everyone stays safe in the windy weather, and has a great Thursday!
