Glenn County Sheriffs detained a man they allege burglarized a northeast Willows home Jan. 5 and made off with firearms and alcohol.
California Highway Patrol located what they believed to be a stolen a GMC Yukon SUV in the parking lot of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store in Willows. After a search, law enforcement found a 12 gauge shotgun, 22 caliber rifle and bottles of alcohol.
Evidence found at the scene of the home burglary led officers to suspect Jesus Esparza, 34, of Willows, had burglarized the home and stolen the property. Unable to locate Esparza at the auto parts parking lot, law enforcement began a search throughout the city. Esparza was located hiding under a blanket of another vehicle near the 100 block of South Yolo Street in Willows.
Owners of the vehicle where Esparza was found hiding said they did not know the suspect and did not give him permission to be in their vehicle.
Esparza was booked in to the Glenn County Jail facing charges of burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, and being a convicted felon in possession of firearms. His bail was set at $65,000.
