The Chico State women's basketball team saw an early 24-point lead evaporate in the second half as Sonoma State stormed back to get the 61-56 win Saturday night at Acker Gym.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 6-9 overall and in last place in the CCAA with a 2-8 conference mark.
The 'Cats played a fantastic first half, knocking down 46 percent of their shots while holding the Seawolves to 13.3 percent shooting. Chico State led 36-12 at the half.
But the second half was a much different story. Sonoma State found its rhythm and shot over 53 percent from the field while outscoring the Wildcats 47-20 over the third and fourth quarters to steal the win.
Sherise Porchia posted a double-double for Chico State scoring 11 points with 10 assists. Whitney Branham and Natalie Valenzuela each scored 10 points.
The Wildcats return to action Thursday at Cal State San Marcos. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
