Wildcat softballers surge into playoffs with Sunday sweep over SFSU

The Chico State softball team has head full of steam heading into the CCAA Conference Championship Tournament.

The Wildcats concluded the regular season with a doubleheader sweep over San Francisco State on Sunday at University Softball Field.

Chico State won game one 2-1 on a walk-off single from Alli Cook. The 'Cats captured game two 6-3.

Sunday's sweep improved Chico State's record to 36-12 – the most wins by a Wildcat softball team in a single season since 2002.

It's also the most wins in a year for Head Coach Angel Shamblin who is in her seventh year at the helm.

Chico State, winners of 19 out of their last 22, enters the upcoming CCAA Championship Tournament as the No. 2 seed.

The Wildcats' first round opponent will be No. 3 seed Sonoma State (32-20-1).

All games will be played at Arnaiz Stadium in Stockton.
