Rain showers moved into the North State today, and they'll only increase this weekend. We've got a wet and windy weekend coming our way!
High pressure has finally broken down over us, and that has opened the storm door up. A moist jet stream is crashing into California (originating from near the Phillippines!), bringing plenty of warm rain our way. A disturbance will interact with this moisture Saturday evening, turning the steady rain into heavy rain! It will also cause the winds to really get gusty. Tomorrow afternoon we'll see gusts to 40 mph... by Saturday night, we'll gust over 50 mph in the Valley! With winds that strong, power outages are possible... It could be a crazy night. Snow levels will stay around 6000' through Saturday, but drop to near 3500' by Sunday. Plan on winter driving conditions in the mountains Sunday!
The winds and rain will diminish some on Sunday, but we'll still have 30 to 35 mph gusts. We won't see quiet conditions return until Monday, and that's when the rain will finally dry up as well.
We'll enjoy a break in the rain Tuesday.
More wet weather is coming our way late next week, starting Wednesday and going through Friday. These are looking like big storms as well! After a dry February, would you call this a March Miracle? Whatever you call it, it's certainly a welcome sight for us!
