BELL GARDENS, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say the wife suspected of shooting and killing the mayor of a Los Angeles County city has been released after hours of questioning.
A Sheriff's Department statement released late Wednesday says no arrests will be made at this time in the death of Bell Gardens Mayor Daniel Crespo.
The statement said the facts of the investigation will be turned over to prosecutors, who will determine whether to file charges.
Sheriff's Deputy Crystal Hernandez said earlier Tuesday that Crespo got into an argument with his wife, Levette Crespo, and their 19-year-old son intervened.
Hernandez says Daniel Crespo and the son began fighting and Levette Crespo got a gun and shot her husband several times.
He died at a hospital, and Levette Crespo was detained for questioning.
