Two landmark areas in the North State may soon require you to dig deeper into your pockets.
National Park Service officials are proposing a fee increase at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and Lassen Volcanic National Park. Officials say entrance fees for both areas haven't increased in nearly two decades.
The money collected would help offset deferred maintenance costs, and help maintain the grounds.
Officials have proposed doubling the daily fee at Whiskeytown Lake from $5 to $10, and the annual pass from $25 to $40. Entrance fees at Lassen would go from $10 to $25 for a one-to seven-day pass and an annual pass would increase from $25 to $50.
If the proposal is approved Whiskeytown could see an increase of up to $1 million each year.
