It was a hazy and warm day around the North State on Monday, as smoke from the King Fire in El Dorado County (near Placerville) drifted northward to us. Not much will change Tuesday, so we'll have another smoky and warm day.
An incoming storm will cause the south winds to pick up Wednesday, which should improve our air quality some. Clouds will thicken Wednesday, and we should see some showers Wednesday night and Thursday. It won't be much, but this should be a stronger storm than last week's. It has the potential to deliver 1/4" of rain near Redding and 1/10" near Chico, with higher amounts in the mountains.
The Valley should dry up Friday, but a few lingering showers are possible in the Sierra & Cascades through Saturday. Temperatures will stowly warm up, but look for Valley highs only near 80 this weekend.
Fall starts at 7:29 Monday (Sept. 22nd) evening.
