Strange weather for August! Tuesday turned into a wet day around the North State, with the rain concentrated in Butte & Plumas counties. Chico picked up over 1/2" of rain, making Tuesday the 5th wettest August day in Chico... ever! Paradise saw about 2/3" of rain, while Magalia was close to 1". Quincy saw a little OVER 1" of rain today!
A narrow but impressive band of rain kept us wet for most of the day... This was the remnants of monsoon moisture from the Desert Southwest. It interacted with an upper level disturbance over us, and brought us plenty of rain. The disturbance will move southeast tomorrow, allowing us to dry out... mostly. As the sun comes out Wednesday, we'll dry up but it will be MUGGY out there! A taste of Florida after all of the rain we enjoyed today. High pressure will slowly strengthen and send our temperatures back to near normal levels by Thursday. They'll stay there through the weekend.
The mountains will mostly dry out as well, but just enough moisture will be left behind to spark a few afternoon thunderstorms up there. Those should dry out Thursday, but could return again this weekend.
