It was a warm Wednesday around the North State, but that's about to change. Colder (and much wetter) weather is on the way!
We enjoyed one last warm day today, with Valley highs in the low 70's. That will change tomorrow, as a weak storm moves inland with a few showers, mainly in the morning. While this incoming storm isn't a big one, it will finally break down high pressure that's been deflecting storms northward, and allow the jet stream to sink southward into California. We've got a lot of rain coming our way!
Friday will start cloudy and dry, but light rain will develop in the afternoon, and continue into Saturday. A small but powerful storm will ride in on the jet stream Saturday afternoon/night, with heavy rain and strong winds! Valley winds will gust 40 to 50 mph. Snow levels will still be high, around 5000'. The rain will turn lighter Sunday... but it will still rain. As cold air pours in, snow levels will drop to near 3500'. If you're going to the mountains (like Lake Tahoe), driving this weekend will be very messy!
All of this wet weather will move east by Monday, and we'll get a break for a couple of days. Round 2 moves in late next week, as the big storms return!
