Wet & Cooler Conditions Ahead For The North State

Apr 13, 2016 10:26 AM by Cort Klopping

Very light morning showers, cloudy skies, and slightly cooler temperatures are ahead for your Wednesday. Showers have mostly been confined to the mid valley and surrounding foothills early this morning, and amounts have been very limited. Clouds are expected to become much thinner towards the afternoon, and partly cloudy skies look likely later today. Temperatures are starting out in the low to mid 50's for the valley, and in the mid 30's to mid 40's in the mountains. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the high 60's to low 70's in the valley, and into the low 50's to low 60's in the mountains. Winds will be out of the North to around 10mph today. The Sierra will be the exception for the winds, and will have sustained winds up to 15mph out of the South, with gusts to around 30mph.

Showers will return to the region late Wednesday night, and are expected to pick up early Thursday morning. Valley areas are expected to get about a quarter of an inch of rain, while mountain areas look likely to get around an inch. Snow levels will dip to between 3500' to 4500' tonight, and mountain areas could see up to a half a foot of snow over the next 48 hours. Temperatures are projected to be in the low to mid 60's for the valley on Thursday, and in the high 40's to mid 50's in the mountains. Most of the showers will be limited to earlier in the day.

Skies will clear out on Thursday night, and sunny skies are expected for the region on Friday. Temperatures will return to the mid 70's in the valley on Friday, and will then climb into the mid to high 80's in the valley this weekend. North winds will become more prevalent in your Friday and weekend forecast as well. I hope everyone is ready for the wet weather to return to the region tonight, and has a wonderful Wednesday!
