Chico police say what started as a welfare check near the intersection of W. Lindo and Holly Avenues escalated into a standoff, but has since ended peacefully.
According to police, officers were called to a home on the 600 block of W. Lindo Avenue Thursday afternoon when a woman called 911 saying her neighbor had just threatened her with a pistol.
Police say because of a previous incident at the same home earlier this month, all available resources were sent to the area. Officers used a PA system to address the man, but contact was never made.
During the incident, a detective working the case off-site learned more information and called all officers away from the scene.
While it is unknown if the man was even inside the home while police were outside Thursday, officers say there is no threat to public safety, and nobody was doing anything illegal.
