The heat continued today around the North State, and we'll see one more day of it tomorrow before much cooler weather arrives this weekend!
High pressure peaked in strength today, and our temperatures peaked as well. We saw highs in the low 90's throughout the Sacramento Valley today, but it will be a bit cooler tomorrow. That's because an incoming storm will weaken high pressure as it moves into Oregon and far northern California on Saturday. This will also trigger a few thunderstorms in the mountains... and there's a chance one or two of those could sneak into the northern end of the Valley late Saturday afternoon.
The low begins to move east on Sunday, and there will still be a chance of thunderstorms in the Sierra Nevada... but everyone else should be dry.
High pressure returns early next week, sending Valley highs back into the low 90's by Tuesday.
Long range models continue to hint at the ridge breaking down late next week/weekend, but they're taking the rain out of the forecast now. We'll continue to monitor this!
