Warming Trend Continues Across the North State

Feb 23, 2016 10:41 AM by Cort Klopping

Slightly cooler morning temperatures, lighter winds, more clouds, and slightly warmer high temperatures are all ahead for your Tuesday forecast. Valley areas are starting out in the high 30's to high 40's this morning, and mountain areas have dipped into the low 20's to low 30's overnight. Afternoon high temperatures are projected to climb into the low 70's across the valley, and into the low 50's to low 60's in the mountains. Winds will be modest for the valley today, and are only expected to be up to around 15mph out of the North. Winds will be slightly stronger for the Sierra, with gusts out of the North up to around 35mph. Clouds will continue to filter through the region today, but they will be thin.

Temperatures will continue to climb into the mid 70's by Thursday afternoon, and will stay very warm on Friday. There will finally be a slight chance for showers to return to the Northern zones of the state on Friday night through Saturday morning. The showers will likely sag as far South as Red Bluff, and are expected to diminish by Saturday afternoon. Valley temperatures will only climb into the mid to high 60's this weekend (still 5 to 10 degrees above average). I hope everyone is ready for the warming trend to continue, and has a great Tuesday!
