A fire broke out at a major retail store in Chico earlier Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews said upon arrival they saw heavy, black smoke coming from the rear of the Best Buy store.

Chico Fire Division Chief Jesse Alexander says they got a call shortly before 4pm Wednesday, about smoke coming from the warehouse area of Best Buy. Alexander says fire investigators aren't sure if the fire originated in the warehouse or in a trailer on the loading dock.

The fire damaged part of the warehouse and the trailer. Alexander says the tractor-trailer contained tv's and various other electronics. It took about 10 minutes for the fire to be fully contained.

Alexander says, "When we see that type of smoke, we know we have a very good working fire and that it's involving a lot of material, probably hydro-carbons. So we're anticipating a very strong working fire upon arrival."

Alexander says the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He says there were no injuries. There was some smoke damage to the retail part of the store.
