Despite heavy rain, almost 40 volunteers came out to clean a three mile stretch of Feather River in Oroville last Saturday.

The cleanup was put on by the Butte County Resource Conservation District and the primary focus of the event was to improve the condition of the Feather River and Oroville open spaces.

Volunteers were also attending the cleanup in appreciation and commemoration of the civil rights activist, Caesar Chavez.

Participants included a crew of 15 volunteers from the California Conservation Corps, students from Chico High School, and community members from Chico and Paradise.

According to a press release, another River and Trail Cleanup event will be held over the summer.
