Very wet, and cooler conditions are ahead for the north state.
We've already had almost 2 inches of rain fall in Redding, and around 3/4ths of an inch in Chico. The heaviest precipitation will be limited to the morning for the valley, with the Northern Sierra getting the brunt of the rain this afternoon. Heavy valley rain will give way to mostly cloudy skies, and lighter showers in the afternoon. There will also be the potential for thunderstorms in the valley for Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures are starting off the day in the low to mid 60's for the valley, and are only expected to climb into the low to mid 70's later today. Mountain areas are in the mid 50's to start the day, and will mostly be in the mid 60's this afternoon. Slightly warmer temperatures, and dry conditions will return to the interior of the north state this weekend. There will be a chance of showers lingering in the Northern Sierra through the weekend.
The clouds will linger for the valley this weekend, but temperatures will return to the mid 70's to low 80's. I hope everyone stays safe on the wet roadways, and has a great Thursday.
