Local country singer Summer Schappell has advanced all the way to the Knockout Round of NBC’s singing competition “The Voice.”

Schappell, 21, grew up in Lakehead and Redding and has been performing in the North State since she was little.

While “The Voice” is certainly her biggest stage thus far, Scahppell is not a stranger to the spotlight, she has opened for country music stars Josh Turner, Leann Rimes, Jason Aldean and Eric Church.

In her blind audition, Schappell blew the judges away with her rendition of Deana Carter’s Strawberry Wine and was chosen by celebrity coach Gwen Stefani. In the next round, Stefani selected Schappell to advance after her battle with fellow Team Gwen singer Hanna Ashbrook.

The Enterprise High School grad is now onto the Knockout Round, where the contestants are once again pitted against a fellow singer. During the Knockouts, each celebrity coach can steal one losing artist. The top 20 contestants move onto the live shows.

You can watch Summer’s performance tonight on KNVN at 9 p.m.
