A bystander has released dramatic video showing the struggle between Chico police and a suspect who led officers on an allegedly drunken chase through downtown Wednesday night.

Chico police attempted to pull over the suspect, later identified as Sean Reardon, around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, but Reardon sped off in his Chevy Suburban.

During the pursuit, Reardon allegedly hit a black Lexus on Salem Street near 6th Street, but kept driving. He then slammed into another car parked on Salem Street near Normal Street.

After hitting the second parked car, Reardon exited the SUV and initially complied with demands to get on the ground, however a short time later he allegedly reached into his pockets in a threatening manner and a struggle with officers ensued.

An Action News Now viewer was standing at the corner of 6th and Normal and captured video that shows two officers attempting to take Reardon into custody after he refused to complly with officer demands. In the video, one officer is seen striking Reardon in the legs with a baton several times, while another attempts to place him in handcuffs.

Reardon was booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of Recklessly evading a Police Officer, Hit and Run, Resisting arrest, Driving with suspended license, Driving under the influence, Violation of probation, Felony warrant for possession of firearm by felon with priors, and a Misdemeanor DUI warrant.
