Six of the first residents of the Veterans Home of California in Redding will be honored during the annual Veteran's Day Parade in the city of Shasta Lake.
They will ride in a vintage Korean War military jeep and be introduced to the crowd at the parade. This year's parade theme is "Welcome Home American Heroes". It's the 21st year for the parade, and the Marshall this year will be CMSgt Robert Dunlap Jr., a retired 26 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He serves as the Shasta County Veterans Service Officer.
The event will feature bands, horses, vehicles, a giant flag and a jet flyover.
It will be preceded by a pancake breakfast hosted by the City of Shasta Lake Lyon's club at the Shasta Lake Fire Department. Breakfast is 6 - 10 a.m., Parade is on Shasta Dam Boulevard starting at 10.##
