We saw a few scattered showers around the North State today, but not a whole lot of rain from them. These showers should lift closer to the Oregon border tomorrow as high pressure temporarily returns to California. That ridge will dry us out and warm us up a little by Wednesday.
But the dry weather won't last long. Models are consistently indicating an Atmospheric River (or Pineapple Express) will surge into northern California late this week and this weekend! Lots of warm rain is coming then. We'll see the beginnings of it on Thursday, so showers should move in by the second half of the day. It's looking like we'll see heavy rain on Friday... 1" to 3" in the Valley! The rain looks lighter (but still substantial) for Saturday, then another good surge comes in Sunday. The rain dries up by Monday.
It's early, but it's looking like this whole event should bring us 2" to 5" of rain in the Valley... good news after a very dry January! This will be a warm storm, so snow levels will be very high, at least 6000' to start, then rising over 8000' by Saturday. It could get a little breezy Friday, but not too bad.
Enjoy the dry weather for a few days... BIG rains are coming!
