Very active weather ahead in your Tuesday forecast. Valley areas can expect strong wind, heavy rain, and the potential for thunderstorms. There is a Winter Storm Warming in place for areas above 3500 feet until 6pm. Mountain areas could be in store for strong wind, and a mix of rain and snow. There is a Today's snow levels will mainly be around 3500", but could dip to 3000" in some areas. Between 7 to 15 inches of snow could fall down to 3500", with up to 2 feet of snow along the highest peaks. Valley areas are expected to have between a half an inch to 1.25 inches of rain today. Thunderstorm activity throughout the day could lead to higher rain totals in some areas. Those thunderstorms could also produce small hail. Winds will also be a big factor in your Tuesday forecast. Some parts of the valley have already had gusts up to 40mph out of the South, with sustained winds topping 20mph.
Temperatures are starting out in the mid 40's in the valley, and in the low 30's to low 40's in the mountains. Afternoon high temperatures are only expected to climb into the mid to high 50's for the valley, and low 40's to low 50's in the higher elevations.
Some showers may linger through tomorrow morning in the valley, while mountain areas could have showers lingering into Wednesday afternoon.
