(UPDATE) 3:36 p.m.- We have just confirmed with fire officials the fire in the Acacia Avenue and Linda Drive area in Oroville has been fully contained. The fire, which burned roughly one acre, was caused by a crew from a local mission who were doing weed abatement when one of their weed-whackers clipped a rock and sparked a fire in some plastic debris. The chief on the scene told Action News at one point up to a couple dozen homes were threatened, but resources were quickly issued to the scene. Crews are currently conducting mop-up.
We just got off the phone with the Oroville Fire Department who just confirmed initial reports of a vegetation fire near the Acacia Avenue and Linda Drive area in Oroville. The fire started at 2:40 p.m. this afternoon and is currently threatening three structures. Oroville Fire Department told Action News there are five to six engines which responded to the scene, but there is no indication yet to the size of the fire. We will provide updates as soon as our reporter Cecile Juliette arrives at the scene.
