Wind and dry conditions fueled a vegetation fire in Tehama County today. The fire is located on Rancho Tehama Road near the community of Rancho Tehama. The blaze started around noon and quickly spread across 225 acres.
Cal Fire and a local volunteer company responded with a dozen engines, along with a helicoper making water drops. No structures were ever threatened, as it burned on mostly cattle grazing land.
The cause is unknown, but firefighters believe it could have been started by a vehicle going by.
The fire was contained by 2:30pm.
