Cal Fire responded to a fire at Casa Lupe in Gridley at approximately 10:22 a.m.
The fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic. Firefighters quickly put out the fire. CAL Fire responded with four engines and a ladder truck. It is estimated that there was $3,000 worth of damage to the kitchen, but crews were able to save the $1.5 million property, including the majority of the restaurant and the attached store.
The restaurant which has been a fixture in the area for 46 years, will remain open.
