UPDATE: woman identified in Shingletown house fire

Shasta County Coroners identified the woman killed in a fire that also injured two small children in Shingletown early Tuesday morning.

Marian Glenn, 45 of Paynes Creek, was killed in the fire. Coroners said the cause of death is still pending a toxicology report. Cal-Fire is still investigating the cause of the fire.


Shasta County Fire responded to a structure fire on the property of Darrah Springs State Fish Hatchery near the 29000 block of Wildcat Road around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday morning. Fire crews said the house was already 75 percent engulfed in flames when they arrived but were able to contain the fire within an hour.

Once contained, firefighters found two children, an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old, both of whom sustained burns. The 8-year-old was flown to UC Davis Burn Unit to be treated for second degree burns. The 5-year-old was transported to Mercy Medical in Redding and is currently in stable condition.

A deceased adult was also found in the home. The identity and the cause of the death has yet to be released while officials continue the investigation in to the cause of the fire.
