A Cottonwood man is dead after being thrown from his motorcycle following a crash in the Happy Valley area. CHP officials say the crash happened just before 9p.m. Monday night on Palm Avenue west of Happy Valley Road. Roger Ladewig, Jr. was reportedly driving east, when he turned left to enter a driveway, right into the path of a man riding his motorcycle. The victim, a 63 year-old Cottonwood man, collided with the truck and was ejected from his bike. As a result, he suffered fatal injuries. The Shasta County Coroner's Office is withholding the identity of the victim at this time. Authorities say Ladewig was driving drunk at the time of the collision.
