Update: Victim Identified in Deadly Redding Crash, Drugs and Alcohol a Factor

The victim in a deadly crash Tuesday morning on highway 237 in Shasta County has been identified.

It happened just north of Branstetter Lane around 6 a.m.

A car heading north struck a telephone pole on the east side of the highway.

The passenger of the car, Caitlan Alissa Marie Wallace,18, of Redding was killed.

The driver, a 17-year-old male from Redding was hospitalized with major injuries.

Due to the driver being a juvenile, his name was not released.

The teen driver was evaluated at the hospital by a drug recognition expert with the Redding Police Department.

He was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the collision.

The driver was arrested, but released at the hospital due to the injuries.

He had prior arrests for possession of stolen property and vehicle theft.

The driver also had two warrants for his arrest.
