UPDATE: Investigators say they are still searching for the driver of a pick-up truck that was last seen traveling on southbound on SR-99 following the collision. It is possible that the driver of this pick-up truck is unaware they were an involved party in this collision. Any individuals with information should contact the Chico-California Highway Patrol at 530-879-1900.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a man and woman in a sedan were northbound on Highway 99 at Cottonwood Road near Richvale, when a truck passed a big rig in an unsafe manner, southbound, on the highway. Authorities say the driver of sedan swerved to avoid hitting the truck, and instead hit a pole, which started a small wildfire. The fire was contained a short time later, but the man and woman in the sedan suffered "major injuries." The truck has not been located. Courtesy: John Loewe/Oroville Mirror Photos by Chris Logue II
