Wednesday, the California State Controller's Office admitted they had failed to properly process 3,900 W-2 forms, ending the mystery that had many Chico State employees wondering if their private information, including address, salary history, and social security number, had been compromised. They say the forms were not stolen, and they were mailed out the same day the error was discovered. Garin Casaleggio, spokesperson with the California State Controller's Office, says the 345,000 forms they oversee are processed and mailed out according to zip code. He says they were made aware of the problem Tuesday, when they received a call from the Chancellor's Office. Casaleggio says it's not clear yet whether the office will face any legal action for failing to get out all the W-2 forms by the February 10 deadline.
