The man killed in a tree-trimming accident in Magalia has been identified as Joey L. Perkins, 46.
Butte County spokesperson Miranda Bowersox told Action News Now that Perkins was contracted independently with Four Seasons Trimming Service to cut back trees near the 6500 block of Rosewood Drive.
While investigators said they are not clear on what caused the fall, they know Perkins fell approximately 75 feet, landing on the ground. Bowersox said a portion of a cut tree also landed on Perkins.
Perkins was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:18 a.m.
Investigators said they will continue to investigate the fall. Occupation Safety and Health Administration will also conduct an investigation into the accident.
One person is dead in Magalia after falling in what appears to be an apparent tree-trimming accident.
According to police scanners, a man fell 60 feet from a tree he was trimming on the 65-hundred block of rosewood drive in Magalia just after 10 this morning.
Deputies on scene say he did die on impact and worked for a company but did not want to reveal the name of the company.
Butte County CalFire reported to the scene as well to aid investigators.
