Two of the three Southbound lanes on Interstate 5 are now back open after Wednesday night's fiery big rig crash in Shasta County.

It happened around 11:30 p.m., south of the Pine Grove Avenue off-ramp in Shasta Lake. The semi-truck was traveling southbound in the slow lane, when for unknown reasons, swerved and hit the center divide. The semi then jackknifed, started spilling fuel and burst into flames. Crews were able to put the fire out within the hour.

The driver of the truck was able to make it out of the truck unharmed, but was checked by personnel as precaution.

The Southbound lanes were closed for several hours as crews cleaned up the wreck and traffic was being diverted onto Cascade Blvd.

Northbound lanes were also reduced to one lane for some time, but reopened around 4 Thursday morning.
