Update: Chico River Road is now back open. Tow truck has cleared the scene and there should be no more interference for traffic.

One way traffic control is in effect on Chico River Road near Morehead Avenue due to a crash that took out a power pole. It happened just after 5:30 a.m. this morning. CHP officials say that speed may have been a factor when the driver was heading into a curve in the road. The man was not injured in the crash, but his truck did come close to a hitting a nearby home. The truck hit some power lines and a utility pole, knocking out power to several homes in the area. Power is now back on for those homes. A tow truck is at the scene right now. Authorities expect it could take another hour to clear the scene. In the meantime, drivers may want to find an alternate route.
