No decision has been made from the Chico City Council on an ordinance that would ban plastic grocery bags. The ordinance, as currently written, would prohibit retailers from offering single-use bags, effective January first of next year. Paper bags could be used at a cost-to-customers of 10-cents per bag. A group opposing the ordinance, and threatening to sue if it passes, has given city leaders hundreds of pages of documents to make its case. Council members voted at Tuesday nights meeting to table the matter until it's May 21st meeting in order to give the city attorney's office time to review all those documents.
