Cal fire is investigating the cause of a fire that burned near Berry Creek.
Cal Fire along with Butte County were able to contain the blaze before it destroyed any homes.
The fire was first reported just after 5:30 along Highway 162 between Bidwell Bar Bridge and Foreman Creek. Fire Crews were able to keep it from spreading past 8 acres. Despite rainfall earlier this week, Cal Fire tells us that we are back to dangerously dry conditions.
The fire was fully contained at 8pm but crews will remain on scene all night. One lane traffic control will be in effect throughout the night.
UPDATE: Berry Creek Fire holding at 8 acres at 7:25 p.m. Starting to cancel resources. 75% contained.
CalFire has been called to the Berry Creek area to battle a wildland fire that sprung up late Friday afternoon. It's burning in the foothills around Lake Oroville, around Foreman Creek Road. CalFire has closed down Highway 162 at Rachel Mountain Road, and no evacuations have been ordered at this point. Stay tuned for updates...
