SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The family of Brittany Maynard will release a new video recorded before her death, testifying in support of California's proposed aid-in-dying legislation.
Maynard was a 29-year-old California woman with brain cancer who moved to Oregon to legally end her life with the help of doctors.
Her husband, Dan Diaz, and her mother, Deborah Ziegler, plan to join state lawmakers in Sacramento on Wednesday to release her recorded testimony in support of SB128.
The bill by Democratic Sens. Bill Monning and Lois Wolk would allow terminally ill patients to kill themselves in California with drugs and dosages recommended by a doctor.
A Senate health committee will vote on the bill later Wednesday.
The practice is legal in five states. Maynard committed suicide Nov. 1.
