The U.S government plans to provide more than eight million dollars to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime is making the money available.

$8.3 million will go to assist victims, witnesses and first responders.

The funds will help with the physical and emotional injuries suffered by an estimated 1,000 people.

The money will not only go to those impacted at the Boston Marathon finish line but also those residents in the neighborhood where a gunfight between police and the suspects took place several days after.
