Butte County investigators say July 3, several people reported damage to their property in Palermo, including a church, Palermo Middle School, a grocery store, and the post office. They say they found shattered windows, a stolen radio, ripped seats on two school buses, and other stolen property. Palermo Middle School bus mechanic Bill Burg says the vandals broke into a school bus and smoked marijuana, leaving some of it behind. He says one of the buses was so badly damaged, he had to send it to Sacramento to be repaired. Investigators say the vandalized church had surveillance cameras. One of the detectives recognized one of the youths, and he and another juvenile were arrested. Damage is estimated at more than $3,000.
