SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard in San Francisco says two people aboard a sinking pleasure boat were rescued near the Oakland Estuary in the San Francisco Bay.
The Coast Guard says in a statement that its San Francisco sector received a mayday call Tuesday from aboard the 29-foot boat. The caller told authorities the craft was taking on water at a rapid rate and told them their exact location.
The San Francisco Police Department joined the response, dispatching a marine unit to the scene. Vessel Assist San Francisco, a 24-hour towing and salvage company, also heard the radio call and provided assistance.
The boat was towed to John Beary Yacht Club in Alameda. No one was injured.
