Two people found guilty in dog attack case

A Butte County Jury found Chic Gordon and Theodore Scherbenske guilty for their roles in a 2012 dog attack that permanently injured 68-year-old Virginia Lorusso.

Gordon was found guilty of a felony count of allowing a vicious animal to be at large and Scherbenske was found guilty of being an accessory after the fact for driving the two dogs away from the area.

In the attack Lorusso had her left calf eaten off, broke two legs and was bitten in the shoulder all as her 8-year-old grandson looked on.

Gordan’s son Ruben Cambra, the dogs owner, was also charged for not keeping the dogs secure, but was found incompetent to stand trial.

Chic Gordon was taken into custody at the court house following the reading of the verdict, she will be sentenced on June 11.

Scherbenske was released, but is due back in court July 9th for sentencing.
