Two people being sought in connection with officer-involved shooting in Corning

Two subjects fired at a Corning Police officer in the area of Houghton Avenue and Fig Lane, according to a press release issued by the Corning Police Department.

The officer returned fire an uncertain amount of times. The officer was not injured and the condition of the two subjects is unknown.

Officers are still searching for the subjects, who are considered armed and dangerous.

They were last seen heading south toward a nearby creek bed. One is described as being about 6'2" and an average build. The second as 5'8" and a stocky build. Both were dressed in black.

Residents were notified of the incident via the reverse-911 system, alerting them to be aware of possible gunmen in the area. The lock down was lifted a few hours later, when multiple agencies could not find the subjects.

Tehama County District Attorney Bureau of Investigation, Tehama County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, and Butte County Sheriff's Office conducted the search.
