The Chico Police Department arrested two men for stealing a box of car parts out of a vehicle this morning.
Chico Police received a call reporting the thefts at approximately 7:45 a.m. The caller reported that the car parts had been stolen from a vehicle on W. 18th Street and a black Honda was seen fleeing the scene.
Shortly after 8:00 a.m. while officers were responding to the report, they received a call from a woman saying a black Honda with two men she did not know inside had just parked in her driveway on the 1500 block of Boucher Street.
Officers responded to Boucher Street and were able to catch the two men by surprise.
The two suspects, Richard Cook, 22, of Chico, and Donald Evans, 25, of Forest Ranch, were detained without incident.
Officers located the stolen car parts inside the vehicle and recovered additional stolen property.
Cook was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for prior possession of stolen property and a new charge of receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance and prowling. Evans was arrested for conspiracy, possession of stolen property and prowling.
