Two Caltrans workers are dead and a third is in the hospital after an on the job accident.
Caltrans confirmed this evening that 40-year-old Joseph "Robert"Jones of Montague and 50-year-old Shawn Baker from Weed were killed.
The accident happened around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon during a rock scaling operation on Highway 96 near Happy Camp.
The third worker, 50-year-old Kevin Skillen was flown to a Medford hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
It's still unclear what happened, A Caltrans spokeperson in Redding told Action News they are working with Siskiyou County Sheriff's investigators to determine exactly what led to Wednesday’s accident.
Jones left behind a wife and three teenage children.
Baker left behind a wife and four children, ages 16 to 25.
